LiKEN Knowledge
Non-profit that offers free legal and forest management technical assistance to heirs’ property in eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia.
LiKEN Knowledge is a Kentucky-based non-profit organization that works primarily in Central Appalachia to build local livelihoods, mutual care, community resilience, and community wealth by meeting basic life needs through stewardship of local life commons. LiKEN operates the Appalachian Heirs’ Property Center, a free technical assistance (TA) program for people who own heirs’ property in eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia. The non-profit works with heirs’ property owners to identify owners, collect necessary documents, and navigate the title resolution process. They also offer a forest management TA that seeks to encourage forest-based livelihoods and the adoption of agroforestry practices.
