The Center for Heirs’ Property® (CHP) is a nationally recognized nonprofit founded in South Carolina more than twenty years ago to address heirs’ property challenges. CHP helps heirs’ property owners and collective landowners protect their homes and land by providing legal assistance to clear title, along with forestry and land-use support, financial education, and community-based guidance. Through this work, CHP strengthens homeowner decision-making, improves access to resources and capital, and supports long-term, sustainable homeownership for families and communities.
